Save A Life Wellness Weekend
The purpose of the Wellness Weekend is to honor families on Father's Day Weekend, while promoting physical mental and spiritual wellness.
The Walk/Run/Bike, established in June, 1983, is held on Saturday in Jackson Park. The event brings together staff and the community to celebrate families, share a meal and take a pleasurable walk/run/bike ride while enjoying Chicago's beautiful lakefront. Health screenings and wellness/healthy lifestyles are the messages for event goers.
The Real Men Cook (RMC) for Charities Event, established in June, 1999, is held on Sunday, Father's Day. It provides an opportunity for The Council to partner with RMC in promoting a positive image of African American males and to strengthen families. For many years, The Council has been one of the charities to receive financial benefits from this event. As a benefiting charity, The Council manages the "Health and Wellness Pavilion" at the RMC Event. Healthy foods are cooked by our volunteer chefs and served by our staff throughout the event.
