Behavioral Healthcare Services

Committed to an evidence-based approach that works within the community our dedicated staff believe in the potential of every consumer. That is the foundation of the services we provide and the secret to our success.
Medical Services
Oversees the overall quality of care provided to patients. Our highly skilled Board Certified Physicians and nurses conduct psychiatric evaluations and administer psychiatric medications and training with professionalism and compassion to our consumers. Psychiatrists are strategically located throughout the Council's programs and services to coordinate consumers' continuum of evidence-based services and to support staff in the delivery of individualized care.
Outpatient and Family Services
Outpatient Services –
Offer a full range of services for adults and families, including individual psychotherapy, family and couples therapy, group psychotherapy and psychological testing.
Youth who are severely, emotionally disturbed, or have been traumatized by sexual abuse or violence require specialized intervention and attention. Our Child and Family Services program offers clinical treatment to young people ages 4-17, and their families, with the goal of helping them live full and productive lives. Our continuum of services includes: assessment, therapy, counseling and case management, and supportive services to strengthen individuals and families. The following specialty services are designed to provide preventive and on-going support for short and long-term needs:
Parenting Assessment Team (PAT) – Provides forensic/clinical assessments for parents who have a mental illness and allegations of child maltreatment. Assessments are conducted by a Multidisciplinary Team consisting of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and forensic students.
Mental Health Juvenile Justice (MH/JJ) –
Court referral for Juveniles suspected of having a mental illness that may be related to their involvement. Early detection results in appropriate treatment and reduces recidivism.
Victims Services –
The Victims Program provides case management services to victims and witnesses of violent crimes (ages 3 and above). This program serves family members of homicide victims in addition to victims of assault, armed robbery, gang violence, and other crimes that affect an individual.s psychological and emotional states.
An individual's mental status affects his/her entire family. Specialized Services is designed to serve consumers of third-party payers through a managed care model. To promote family healing, Specialized Services provide family members with the following evidence-based services: therapeutic intervention, psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic and psychological testing and individual, family and marital therapy.
Partnership with The Chicago School –
This congressionally funded partnership between The Council and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology was formed to bolster the Council.s ability to provide services, particularly in the area of prevention, for those youth currently involved in the Juvenile Justice system or are at risk of incarceration/psychiatric hospitalization.
ARCH I and II –
Provides innovative treatment to end chronic homelessness and substance abuse through the provision of intensive case management services and housing support. The ARCH paradigm is a .housing first. program whose participants are not required to attain or maintain sobriety in order to receive services. Similarly, mental health treatment is offered but not prerequisite to linkage with safe permanent housing.
Residential and Emergency Psychiatric Services
Residential Services –
Provides an array of housing options, including Community Integrated Living Arrangement, Supervised, Permanent, Supported Assisted Living and Crisis Beds for urgent care patients. Services are designed to develop basic skills for successful independent living, and include: housing, medication management, independent living, personal productivity, psychiatric services, case management/counseling and life skills development.
Available on a 24-hour basis, Emergency Psychiatric Services operates within and in partnership with the emergency room staff of Jackson Park and St. Bernard Hospitals, providing crisis intervention, case management, psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, referrals, case management and linkage to appropriate community services and programs. In addition, Mobile Services and Intensive Support to incarcerated consumers in conjunction with Cermak Hospital.s Mental Health Division are designed to assist consumers with a successful transition back into the community.
Rehabilitation and Senior Services
Offering a broad range of programs, Rehabilitation Services helps stabilize consumers' mental and emotional problems with the goal of reintegration into the community. Services include: evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation, vocational services and training, job seeking skills and employment readiness, case management, and Mental Health and Substance Abuse (MISA) treatment.
Empowerment By Design – Shoppes @ The Council –
Provides consumers with hands-on interactive technical, living and job skills training in a supportive environment designed for individual success. Shoppes include: Technology and Administration, Quik-Print, Health and Grooming, Education and Literacy, Janitorial, and Food Service.
Senior Connections –
Assists adults ages 60 and older with assessment and supportive services designed to encourage independence and life enrichment. Services include: comprehensive needs assessment, case management referral, advocacy and linkage. Referrals are made to a broad array of services including: adult day respite, home meals, housekeeping, and emergency home response services. Case managers screen for assisted services, nursing home placement, nursing home deinstitutionalization and veterans' services.
Consumer Support Services –
Helps to create a 'voice' for consumers, while encouraging leadership, self-esteem and self-determination. Services include educational groups, training, workshops and community development.
Institute
for Managerial and Clinical Consultation (IMACC)
Provides managerial and clinical consultation to individuals and organizations. IMACC specializes in organization development issues. Our professional team of consultants provides training, assessment, team building, team redesign, and critical path problem solving.
Service Fees –
Fees are assessed on the basis of income and family size. Medicaid, Medicare or eligible private insurances may cover full or partial cost of services. The Council does not discriminate in admission to services or employment.
